The LM321MFX is a low-power single operational amplifier from Texas Instruments, supplied on a large tape and reel of 3000 units for high-volume automated assembly. As the single-channel version of the ubiquitous LM324, it provides a 1 MHz gain-bandwidth product with only 430 uA typical supply current in a 5-pin SOT-23 package. The wide supply voltage range of 3 V to 32 V accommodates both single-supply and dual-supply applications. The input common-mode range includes ground, enabling true single-supply operation without a negative rail. The device remains stable with high capacitive loads, a feature that simplifies design when driving cables, filter networks, or other capacitive loads. The MFX suffix denotes the tape-and-reel packaging variant with 3000 units per reel, suitable for pick-and-place assembly in volume production.

The LM321MFX operates as a voltage-feedback operational amplifier with internal compensation: (1) The differential input stage amplifies the voltage difference between the non-inverting and inverting inputs using bipolar transistors. The input bias current of 45 nA and input common-mode range that includes ground support single-supply operation. (2) The gain stage provides voltage amplification with internal frequency compensation for unity-gain stability. The 1 MHz gain-bandwidth product and 0.4 V/us slew rate are optimized for low-to-moderate frequency signal processing. (3) The Class AB output stage drives resistive and capacitive loads without oscillation. The output can swing close to ground in single-supply configurations, and the low 430 uA quiescent current makes the device ideal for battery-powered applications.
