The LF356N/NOPB from TI is a JFET-input op amp in PDIP-8 with 5MHz GBW, 12V/µs slew rate, and ultra-low 30pA input bias current. 10^12Ω input impedance makes it ideal for high-impedance source amplification. ±5V to ±18V supply range. Internally compensated, pin-compatible with LM741. N suffix denotes PDIP-8, NOPB denotes lead-free. Classic JFET op amp for photodiode, piezo, and pH electrode signal conditioning.

The LF356 uses a JFET-input differential pair stage that provides the ultra-low 30pA input bias current and 10^12Ω input impedance. The JFET input also eliminates the input-stage bias current noise that dominates in bipolar op amps at high source impedances. The internal frequency compensation capacitor provides unity-gain stability. The output stage uses a class-AB push-pull configuration with short-circuit current limiting. The 12V/µs slew rate is determined by the ratio of the input stage tail current to the compensation capacitor. Unlike bipolar op amps, the JFET input exhibits essentially no input bias current variation with common-mode voltage.
