The ILX232DT is a 3.3V RS-232 transceiver with 3 drivers and 3 receivers operating at 250kbps in TSSOP-20 for serial communication in 3.3V systems.

The ILX232DT is a 3.0-5.5V RS-232 transceiver from MaxLinear in TSSOP-20, providing 3 drivers and 3 receivers compliant with TIA/EIA-232-F. It is the 3TX/3RX variant (vs the common 2TX/2RX MAX3232), providing an extra channel for hardware flow control (RTS/CTS) in addition to TX/RX. The on-chip charge pump generates +/-5.5V from a single 3.3V supply using four 0.1uF external capacitors. The charge pump operates at approximately 500kHz, requiring low-ESR ceramic capacitors (X5R or X7R dielectric). The drivers accept TTL/CMOS inputs and output RS-232 levels (+/-5.5V minimum) with slew rate limited to 30V/us for 250kbps data rates. The receivers accept RS-232 levels (+/-3V minimum to +/-25V maximum) and output TTL/CMOS levels with 0.3V hysteresis for noise immunity. The device draws 1mA quiescent current. The 3-driver/3-receiver configuration supports full hardware flow control: TX, RX, and RTS/CTS (or DTR/DSR). The -DT suffix specifies TSSOP-20, tape-and-reel. The ILX232 is pin-compatible with the SP3232E and similar 3-channel RS-232 transceivers. Applications include: embedded systems with RS-232 serial ports, GPS modules, and industrial communication interfaces.
