The G2RL-1-E-24VDC from Omron is a high-capacity power relay from the G2RL series, designed for switching loads up to 16A at 250VAC. The relay features a compact 15.7mm low-profile design optimized for high-density PCB mounting in space-constrained applications. With a 24VDC coil consuming only 400mW (16.7mA at 1440 Ohm coil resistance), it provides energy-efficient operation in control circuits. The SPDT (1 Form C) contact configuration uses Cd-free silver alloy contacts rated for 16A at both AC and DC loads. The high-capacity E-version offers significantly higher switching capability compared to the standard G2RL-1 model (16A vs 12A). Safety features include 5000VAC dielectric strength between coil and contacts, 1000VAC between contacts of the same polarity, and impulse withstand voltage of 10kV. The relay conforms to multiple international safety standards including VDE EN61810-1, UL, CSA, and CQC. The Class F coil insulation system ensures reliable operation at elevated ambient temperatures up to 85 C. With a mechanical endurance of 20 million operations and electrical endurance of 30,000 operations at rated load, the G2RL-1-E provides long service life in demanding applications.

The G2RL-1-E-24VDC operates as an electromagnetic power relay. Key subsystems include: (1) Electromagnetic Coil – when 24VDC is applied to the coil (1440 Ohm resistance), the resulting 16.7mA current generates a magnetic field in the core; the coil power is approximately 400mW; the relay must operate at 70% of rated voltage (16.8VDC) or less and must release at 10% (2.4VDC) or more; (2) Armature Mechanism – the magnetic field attracts the armature (movable iron piece) against the return spring force; this mechanical movement takes 15ms maximum (operate time); when coil voltage is removed, the return spring drives the armature back in 5ms maximum (release time); (3) Contact System – the armature movement is mechanically coupled to the contact system via a pushrod; the SPDT (1 Form C) configuration consists of one common contact (COM), one normally open contact (NO), and one normally closed contact (NC); when the relay is energized, COM disconnects from NC and connects to NO; when de-energized, COM returns to NC; (4) Arc Suppression – the contact gap and material selection minimize contact arcing during switching; the Ag alloy contacts provide low contact resistance (100mOhm max) and reliable switching up to 16A.
