The AD8625ARZ-REEL from Analog Devices is a quad-channel precision JFET input operational amplifier designed for applications requiring ultra-low input bias current and high input impedance. The JFET input stage provides a maximum input bias current of only 1 pA at 25°C, making the device ideal for interfacing with high-impedance sources such as photodiodes, pH probes, and ion-selective electrodes. The amplifier features rail-to-rail output capability that maximizes dynamic range in single-supply systems, and the input common-mode range extends to within 2 V of the positive rail. With a 5 MHz gain-bandwidth product and 5 V/us slew rate, the AD8625 offers significantly higher speed than typical JFET amplifiers while maintaining precision with 500 uV max offset voltage. The AD8625ARZ-REEL operates as a voltage-feedback operational amplifier with JFET input technology across three key blocks: (1) The JFET differential input stage provides ultra-low input bias current (1 pA max) and extremely high input impedance, critical for applications where the signal source cannot supply significant current. The JFET inputs also eliminate the input bias current cancellation circuits found in some bipolar designs, providing more predictable performance. (2) The gain stage provides the primary voltage amplification with internal compensation for unity-gain stability. The 5 MHz gain-bandwidth product and 60-degree phase margin ensure stability in a wide range of feedback configurations, including with capacitive loads exceeding 500 pF. (3) The rail-to-rail output stage uses a complementary push-pull architecture that swings to within 80 mV of each supply rail at 2 mA load, maximizing the usable output voltage range in single-supply applications. The output stage is designed to avoid phase reversal when the input common-mode range is exceeded, a common problem with some JFET amplifiers.
