The VLP-04V is a 4-position vertical through-hole PCB header from JST’s VL series wire-to-board connector system. It features a compact 2.0mm pitch, making it suitable for space-constrained PCB layouts. The connector is designed for use with VL series crimp-style contacts that accept 26-22 AWG wire. The housing is made of UL94V-0 flame-retardant Nylon 66 with a locking mechanism that prevents accidental disconnection. The phosphor bronze contacts provide reliable contact force with less than 10 mOhm contact resistance. The connector is rated for 3A per contact and 250V, suitable for signal and low-power connections in consumer electronics and office automation equipment.

The VLP-04V is a passive connector that provides a removable wire-to-board interface. The header is soldered into through-holes on the PCB, with the contacts extending through the board and soldered on the opposite side for mechanical and electrical connection. The mating housing (VL series plug with pre-crimped wires) inserts into the header from the top in the vertical orientation. The contacts in the header are cantilever-style phosphor bronze beams that deflect when the mating contact inserts, generating a normal force that creates a gas-tight connection at the contact interface. The locking mechanism consists of a flexible latch on the mating housing that snaps over a ridge on the header, preventing the connection from vibrating apart. To disconnect, the latch is depressed while pulling the housing. The 2.0mm pitch between contacts is maintained by the precision-molded Nylon 66 housing, ensuring proper alignment with the mating connector and consistent contact engagement across all positions.
