The TS5A22362DRCR from Texas Instruments is a 2-channel SPDT analog switch with negative signaling capability in a 10-pin VSON (3.0 x 3.0mm) package. The DRC denotes the VSON-10 package, R denotes tape and reel. The device features two independent single-pole double-throw (SPDT) switches, each routing a common (COM) terminal to one of two selectable throws (NO or NC) controlled by an IN pin. The key differentiator is the negative signaling capability: the analog signal range extends from VCC down to VCC-5.5V, allowing signals below ground (down to -2.75V with VCC=2.75V) to pass without distortion. This is critical for audio applications where AC-coupled signals swing symmetrically around ground. The 0.65 Ohm typical ON resistance at 3.3V (0.52 Ohm at 5V) with excellent 0.04 Ohm channel matching and 0.076 Ohm flatness minimizes signal attenuation and distortion. The 0.008% THD specification makes this switch ideal for high-fidelity audio signal routing. Break-before-make (BBM) switching with 1-7ns delay prevents momentary signal shorting during switching transitions.

The TS5A22362DRCR operates through three subsystems: (1) Analog Switch Core: Each SPDT switch consists of two N-channel MOSFET pass gates (COM-to-NO and COM-to-NC) controlled by the IN input. When IN is high, the COM-to-NO path is ON and COM-to-NC is OFF. When IN is low, COM-to-NC is ON and COM-to-NO is OFF. The MOSFET gates are driven by a charge pump that generates a voltage above VCC, ensuring the pass gates are fully enhanced even for signals near VCC, minimizing Ron. (2) Negative Signaling: The charge pump also generates a gate voltage below ground for the N-channel MOSFET body terminals. This prevents the parasitic body diodes from conducting when the analog signal swings below ground, allowing negative signals to pass without clipping. The signal range extends from VCC-5.5V to VCC, providing up to 5.5V of signal swing in either direction. (3) Break-Before-Make: When the IN pin transitions, the currently ON switch turns OFF first (1-7ns BBM time), then the other switch turns ON. This prevents the two throws (NO and NC) from being momentarily shorted together through the COM node, which would cause signal glitches and potentially damage downstream circuitry.
