The TPS62142RGTR is a 3A synchronous step-down converter with fixed 3.3V output in VQFN-16 (3x3mm). It uses DCS-Control (Direct Control with Seamless transition), a proprietary topology combining voltage-mode and current-mode control. In steady state, a voltage-mode error amplifier regulates the output. During load transients, the current-mode path provides fast response with adaptive constant on-time. The 2.5MHz switching frequency enables use of small 1uH inductors and 22uF output capacitors. The integrated 90mOhm/70mOhm MOSFETs achieve 95% efficiency at 2A output. When EN is low, the device enters shutdown with 1.5uA supply current. 100% duty cycle mode allows VIN to drop to near VOUT for low-dropout operation. The PG pin indicates output is within 95-107% of target. Hiccup over-current protection prevents thermal damage during persistent overloads.
