Fully compliant with ISO 11898, it supports baud rates up to 1Mbaud with very low electromagnetic emission, silent mode, and TXD dominant time-out protection.

The TJA1050T from NXP is a high-speed CAN transceiver compliant with ISO 11898, supporting up to 1Mbaud. It provides differential transmit and receive capability between the CAN controller and bus. Features very low EME, silent mode, TXD dominant time-out, thermal protection, and 3.3V/5V compatible inputs. Successor to PCA82C250 with improved EME and unpowered node behavior.

The driver converts single-ended TXD to differential CANH/CANL bus signals. In dominant state (TXD=low), CANH goes high and CANL goes low with ~2V differential. In recessive state (TXD=high or floating), both outputs sit at VCC/2. The S pin selects high-speed mode (S=GND) or silent mode (S=VCC, transmitter disabled). TXD dominant time-out prevents bus lockup if TXD is stuck low (>450us typical). Thermal shutdown disables the driver at ~165 C junction temperature.
