The SN65HVD235QDRQ1 is a 3.3V CAN bus transceiver from Texas Instruments in SOIC-8 with AEC-Q100 automotive qualification. It translates between the CAN controller logic levels (3.3V) and the differential CAN bus levels (CANH/CANL). In the dominant state (logic LOW on D pin), CANH rises to 3.5V and CANL drops to 1.5V (2V differential). In the recessive state (logic HIGH on D pin or bus idle), both CANH and CANL are at 2.5V (0V differential). The device supports CAN data rates up to 1Mbps (CAN 2.0A/B). The DE and RE pins control the driver and receiver independently. The SN65HVD235 specifically includes an autobaude rate detection feature: when the AB pin (internally tied) detects bus activity, it automatically adjusts to match the bus speed. The device has three operating modes: Normal (transceiver active), Standby (receiver only, 15uA Iq, RXD asserts on bus wake-up), and Sleep (200nA Iq, wake-up on bus activity). The internal loopback feature allows the CAN controller to self-test by receiving its own transmitted data. The bus pins are protected to +/-25V against ground and +/-12V common-mode range. ESD protection is +/-15kV HBM and +/-8kV IEC 61000-4-2 on the bus pins. The QDRQ1 suffix specifies SOIC-8, AEC-Q100 grade 1 (-40C to +125C), tape-and-reel.
