The MAX3051ESA+T from Analog Devices (formerly Maxim Integrated) is a CAN transceiver that provides the physical layer interface between a CAN protocol controller and the differential CAN bus. Compliant with ISO 11898, it supports data rates up to 1Mbps with three operating modes: high-speed for maximum throughput, slope-control for reduced EMI in lower-speed applications, and standby for minimal power consumption. The bus pins are fault-protected to +/-36V, surviving common automotive fault conditions. Thermal shutdown and current limiting provide additional robustness. The device consumes only 45uA in standby mode and ensures that an unpowered node does not disturb the bus. The MAX3051ESA+T is available in an 8-pin SOIC package rated for -40 to 125 C.

The MAX3051ESA+T operates as a CAN physical layer transceiver with three configurable modes.
