The LM2842XQMKX is a 42V 0.5A step-down DC-DC converter from Texas Instruments in SOT-23-6 with 550kHz switching frequency (X suffix). The internal N-channel MOSFET is rated for 0.5A peak current with a typical RDS(on) of 500mOhm. The converter uses peak current-mode control: the error amplifier compares the FB pin voltage to the 0.765V internal reference, and its output (COMP) sets the peak inductor current threshold. The internal slope compensation prevents sub-harmonic oscillation at duty cycles above 50%. The bootstrap capacitor on CB provides the gate drive voltage for the internal high-side N-channel MOSFET (VSW + 5V approximately). An external Schottky catch diode (recommended SS34 or similar) is required to provide a current path for the inductor during the off-time. The EN pin has an internal 800k-ohm pull-up resistor, so leaving it floating enables the device automatically. The maximum duty cycle is approximately 90%, allowing output voltages up to 0.9 x VIN. The input undervoltage lockout (UVLO) threshold is 3.9V (rising). The thermal shutdown activates at 165C with 15C hysteresis. The QMKX suffix specifies SOT-23-6, AEC-Q100 qualified, 550kHz switching frequency.
