The FXLS8471QR1 from NXP is a 3-axis 14-bit digital accelerometer with I2C/SPI interface, automotive-qualified to AEC-Q100. Selectable ±2g/±4g/±8g measurement ranges with data rates from 1.56 Hz to 800 Hz suit various motion sensing applications. The embedded 32-sample FIFO reduces bus traffic and MCU overhead. Two programmable interrupt pins support freefall, motion, and transient detection. Ultra-low 6 µA standby current preserves battery life.

The FXLS8471Q uses capacitive MEMS sensing elements to detect acceleration along three orthogonal axes. The MEMS capacitance changes are converted to digital values by 14-bit ADCs. A digital filter engine applies configurable low-pass filtering. The FIFO buffer stores up to 32 samples, reducing MCU polling overhead. Interrupt engines compare acceleration against programmable thresholds for autonomous event detection.
