The AD7795BRUZ-REEL from Analog Devices is the tape-and-reel variant of the AD7795 precision sigma-delta ADC, designed for high-volume automated SMT assembly. It integrates a 16-bit ADC, programmable gain instrumentation amplifier (PGA with gains 1 to 128), and a low-drift bandgap reference in a single 24-pin TSSOP package. The device provides six differential input channels through an internal multiplexer, supporting multi-sensor measurement systems. With 23-bit effective resolution and 40 nV RMS noise at 4.17 Hz output data rate, the AD7795 delivers exceptional measurement precision for demanding applications such as weigh scales, temperature measurement, and industrial instrumentation. The AD7795BRUZ-REEL operates identically to the AD7795BRUZ through five subsystems: (1) The input multiplexer selects one of six differential channel pairs for conversion, with optional bias voltage generation for sensor biasing at AVDD/2. (2) The programmable gain instrumentation amplifier provides gains from 1 to 128, amplifying small sensor signals to utilize the full ADC dynamic range. The chopper-stabilized architecture minimizes offset drift. (3) The 16-bit sigma-delta modulator oversamples the input at high frequency, producing a 1-bit data stream processed by the decimation filter at the programmed output data rate (4.17 Hz to 470 Hz). Lower data rates yield lower noise and higher effective resolution. (4) The on-chip bandgap reference provides 1.17 V with 4 ppm/°C typical drift; external references can also be used. (5) Programmable excitation current sources bias resistive sensors, and a power switch can disconnect bridge sensors between conversions for power saving.
