The ACS722LLCTR-10AU-T from Allegro MicroSystems is a high-accuracy galvanically isolated Hall-effect current sensor IC in a compact SOIC-8 package. The suffix LL denotes SOIC-8 package, CTR indicates tape and reel, 10A is the measurement range (0-10A unidirectional), U indicates unidirectional, and T denotes tape and reel packaging. It features 132mV/A sensitivity, 2.4kV RMS isolation, and Allegro patented digital temperature compensation for near closed-loop accuracy in an open-loop sensor. The 0.65mOhm primary conductor resistance minimizes power loss and enables high inrush current withstand capability.

The ACS722 operates through four subsystems: (1) Hall Sensing: Current flowing through the integrated copper conduction path (pins 1-4) generates a magnetic field proportional to the current. A precise linear Hall sensor IC positioned near the conductor detects this field. (2) Signal Processing: The Hall sensor output is processed by a chopper-stabilized BiCMOS IC with patented digital temperature compensation, resulting in extremely stable quiescent voltage and accurate sensitivity over temperature. (3) Pin-Selectable Bandwidth: The BW_SEL pin (pin 6) selects between 80kHz bandwidth for high-speed applications and 20kHz for lower noise performance. (4) Isolation: The conductor path is galvanically isolated from the sensor leads (pins 5-8) with 2.4kV RMS dielectric strength, eliminating the need for external isolation components.
