The TTP223-BA6 is a single-key capacitive touch pad detector IC using charge detection technology. It determines finger proximity by detecting the change in charge level between the operator’s finger and the touch pad electrode. With ultra-low 1.5 uA standby current at 3V, it is optimized for battery-powered applications. The sensitivity is adjustable through an external capacitor (Cs, 0-50 pF), and the output mode is configurable via the STG and SLH pins: direct (momentary) or toggle (latching), active-high or active-low. The built-in LDO ensures stable operation across the wide 2.0V to 5.5V supply range.

The TTP223-BA6 operates using charge detection technology. An internal oscillator charges and discharges the sense electrode through the SO pin. When a finger approaches the touch pad, the additional capacitance changes the charge/discharge timing, which is detected by the internal comparator. The STG pin selects between direct mode (output follows touch state, like a momentary button) and toggle mode (output toggles on each touch, like a latching switch). The SLH pin selects the active output level (high or low when touched). In low-power mode, the device periodically samples the sense electrode and returns to sleep, achieving 1.5 uA average current. Auto-calibration occurs approximately every 4 seconds during idle and 16 seconds after a touch release, compensating for environmental drift.
