The PE43711B-Z is a 7-bit RF digital step attenuator from pSemi (Murata) in QFN-24, covering 9kHz to 6GHz with 0.25dB step size and 31.75dB total attenuation range. It uses a reflective architecture with CMOS switches to select between a through-path and attenuator pads. The 7-bit control provides 128 attenuation states (0dB to 31.75dB in 0.25dB steps). The internal RF path consists of cascaded pi-attenuator sections: 0.25dB, 0.5dB, 1dB, 2dB, 4dB, 8dB, 16dB, each independently switched. The insertion loss is 1.0dB at 2GHz and 1.8dB at 6GHz. The attenuation accuracy is +/-0.1dB typical at low frequencies, degrading to +/-0.5dB at 6GHz. The device supports both SPI serial control (CLK, SDI, LE) and parallel control (D0-D7, P/S=HIGH). In SPI mode, a 24-bit word (7 data bits + control) is shifted in on SDI and latched on LE rising edge. The SDO output enables daisy-chaining multiple devices. The switching speed is 500ns typical. The RF input power handling is +27dBm (500mW) at 3.3V. The device draws 2uA in static state and 100uA during switching. The B-Z suffix specifies lead-free, tape-and-reel.
