The MPU-9250 is a multi-chip module (MCM) from InvenSense that integrates a 3-axis gyroscope, 3-axis accelerometer, and an AK8963 3-axis magnetometer in a single 3x3x1mm QFN package. This 9-axis MotionTracking device features 16-bit ADCs for each sensor axis and includes an onboard Digital Motion Processor (DMP) that offloads complex sensor fusion computations from the host processor. The device supports both I2C and SPI serial interfaces and operates from a 2.4-3.6V supply with 1.71V-compatible I/O.

The MPU-9250 integrates three MEMS sensor subsystems into a single package. **Gyroscope Subsystem**: Three independent vibratory MEMS rate gyroscopes measure angular velocity using the Coriolis effect. Each axis features a 16-bit ADC with programmable full-scale ranges from +/-250 to +/-2000 dps, with noise density of 0.01 dps/sqrt(Hz). **Accelerometer Subsystem**: A 3-axis capacitive MEMS accelerometer measures linear acceleration including gravity. 16-bit digitization with ranges from +/-2g to +/-16g and noise density of 80 ug/sqrt(Hz). **Magnetometer Subsystem**: The integrated AK8963 Hall-effect magnetometer measures the geomagnetic field for heading determination, with +/-4800 uT range and 0.15 uT resolution. **DMP**: The Digital Motion Processor executes sensor fusion algorithms (6-axis and 9-axis) in hardware, reducing host CPU load and providing quaternion output for orientation tracking.
