The GRM188R60J226MEA0D is a Murata Electronics high-capacitance MLCC providing 22 uF at 6.3 VDC with X5R dielectric in a 0603 (1608 metric) package. The 22 uF capacitance in a 1.6 x 0.8 mm footprint provides effective bulk decoupling for power rails where board space is at a premium. Temperature stability of +/-15% from -55 to +85 deg C ensures reliable operation across industrial and consumer environments. The device features copper external electrodes with nickel barrier and tin plating for excellent solderability.

The GRM188R60J226MEA0D achieves its high 22 uF capacitance in a 0603 footprint through Murata’s advanced thin-layer lamination technology. Hundreds of ultra-thin barium titanate dielectric layers (each less than 1 um thick) are interleaved with nickel internal electrodes and co-fired to form the monolithic structure. The high layer count and thin dielectric increase the effective electrode area within the constrained 0603 volume. The X5R dielectric formulation provides a balance between dielectric constant and temperature stability. During operation, the capacitor presents low impedance at high frequencies, shunting noise currents away from the power rail and into ground.
