The BC857BS from Nexperia is a dual PNP general-purpose transistor integrating two electrically independent PNP transistors in a 6-pin SOT363 (SC-88) package. Each transistor features -45 V VCEO, -100 mA collector current, and hFE of 200-450. The dual configuration reduces component count and PCB area in current mirror, push-pull, and differential amplifier applications. An AEC-Q101 qualified version (BC857BS-Q) is available for automotive designs. The NPN complement is the BC847BS/BC847BDW.

The BC857BS integrates two PNP bipolar junction transistors on a single die, each sharing no electrical connection with the other. Each transistor consists of a P-type emitter, N-type base, and P-type collector forming a PNP sandwich. In the active region, a small base current (holes flowing out of the base) controls a larger collector current (holes flowing from emitter to collector), with the gain determined by hFE (200-450). In saturation, both junctions are forward-biased, VCE drops to below 100 mV, and the transistor acts as a closed switch. The two transistors can be used independently in any circuit configuration, with the SOT363 package providing independent pin access to all six terminals.
