The ATM90E26-YU-R from Microchip is a high-accuracy single-phase energy metering IC for smart electricity meters. Three 16-bit Σ-Δ ADCs simultaneously sample voltage and current, achieving 0.1% active energy accuracy over 5000:1 dynamic range. Provides active/reactive/apparent power, RMS voltage/current, power factor, and frequency via SPI or UART. On-chip calibration with 15 ppm/°C reference stability ensures IEC62052/62053 compliance.

Three 16-bit Σ-Δ ADCs sample line voltage and current simultaneously. A DSP engine multiplies voltage and current to compute instantaneous power, integrating to obtain active energy. Reactive energy uses a 90-degree phase shift method. On-chip voltage reference ensures temperature stability. Calibration coefficients are applied to raw measurements, with single-point calibration sufficient for active energy.
